I know I’m a little late but the VINWIKI video on YouTube about the run was well worth the watch. I guess high altitude is the car’s Achilles heel but am still impressed. The CKRA gets a bad rap around here but I don’t think it’s a bad engine after certain ancillary parts happen to fall off...
I have the same car with the Fender system and went with the JVC KW-M695BW. The volume and speaker buttons on the steering column work. It doesn’t seem as if I lost any sound quality at all with the audio.
I had it done by a local shop.
VCDS or OBDeleven should probably be your first purchase. After that, for me personally, it’s all about doing things to make the car last as long as possible, because they’re not making cars I like anymore.
I installed the Whitebread Performance bypass kit in my car. I don’t know if they make one for the Audi. As a previous poster said, it’s debatable if it’s even necessary. I just like the idea that if the HPFP ever grenades itself, it just needs to replaced without the entire fuel system being...
Well that really sucks. Another niche group they’re blowing off are gun owners who want NFA reform, but that’s way off topic. Point is, keep alienating all these different small groups and eventually they become one big group of voters, unmotivated to keep them in power.
But $57 trillion in...
What will these deregulations do for diesel crate engines? I have a 2010 Jeep with the mighty Chrysler 3.8 minivan motor. It’s a sound canidate for a swap if I don’t have to pay for the EGR/DPF bullsh##
The reason I did it is because if it does fail, the cost to repair is about $5,000 here in OKC. With the Whitebread kit installed, the repair is a bit over a $1,000. Yes the odds of it failing may be low but it does happen.
For $225 bucks, the Whitebread kit is sort of an insurance policy...
I installed the whitebread bypass kit a few weeks ago and, although the car has been driven over 1,000 miles, I can’t help but think I put Fred’s filter on the wrong line. If I did I guess I could buy another filter and put it on the correct line?
I’m about to give up on mine. It’s in an endless boot-loop. I came here hoping to see what others have done. Thinking about replacing the whole thing but not sure where to start.
I read somewhere (maybe here) a guy said he buys TDI’s with broken timing belts, rebuilds and sells them. He said they usually go around 180,000 miles.
Who knows what the record is.
Local dealer almost destroyed mine that same way about a year ago. I think the oil cap came off when I pulled into my driveway. If it would have came off while going down the highway then it would probably be toast.
Next oil change another shop put the wrong oil in it.
I’m a little skiddish...
Wow I thought the Diesels that I work with were big. They are 4,800 hp to 5,200 hp. I'm a freight train engineer at one of the big western US railroads.
Does it usually end after the engine is fully warmed up?
Mine did that same thing last winter and ended up throwing codes for 2 fuel injectors. Lucky for me I was still under the diesel gate warranty.
