I bought a clothes dryer and brought it home in my mk4 wagon. The store help was absolutely speechless when it did fit in the back, no issues.

Same wagon carried a sectional sofa from Costco, slowly, on the roof. Probably illegal, but I took 100% backroads to take it slow and dimmish risk.
I was thinking about the large rolling tool chest I stuffed into the hatch of the beetle years ago. Got it home and unpacked to find out it had been dropped, and the bottom drawer was damaged. Told the wife to go back and see if she could get $50 back from Home Depot. She asked for 50 and they gave her 50%! I don't remember why I stuffed it into the Beetle but it worked.

The sectional was two trips, but the big box looked similar to the pic someone else posted of a refrigerator.

Vaporware- A tractor often has to run at or near full power for hours, in this case feeding that 70 KW motor would kill even a battery of 3 of their 30KW batteries every hour. Then it's back to the barn and fire up the diesel tractor with the loader to remove 3 dead batteries, install 3 live ones, and put the dead ones on the charger. That's probably a half hours downtime for every hour worked, and how many farms have 100 KW or more electric feed to fast charge dead batteries?

There are ideas about doing "line" fields, with overhead powerlines to feed electric equipment. But it would be a massive undertaking to make that sort of change. I suspect anything like that would be decades away, if ever,

That sounds like a solid plan you’ve got—having that hand pump for water is a smart backup, especially since power outages still happen now and then on radial lines. I like the mix of old-school tech with new solar gear to keep essentials running. With 300+ sunny days, your solar oven and battery setup should do great keeping the fridge and freezer going.

On the internet side, I’ve heard similar stories about Starlink. Great when it works, but support can be rough if hardware fails. Going back to a reliable local provider makes sense, especially if you depend on steady connection for work from home. A cell booster might help but can be spotty depending on the house layout.

By the way, I learned about these backup power setups and solar integrations from an HVAC company in Richmond Hill. They really know their stuff when it comes to combining renewable energy with home comfort and backup systems. If you want, I can pass their info along.

Fortunately Starlink hardware is fairly reliable but replacement may take a couple of weeks you get unlucky. A mesh node can take the place of the router if that fails. We have no viable alternative to Starlink here, but we do have a shed within range of both ours and our neighbors wifi, so a mesh node there will service both households in the event one of our dishes fails.

Think they should take a pretty hard look at what an economy vehicle is. This isnt it. Next to no trunk space, keeping the dual motor set up, still dismal range. 🤦🏻 Wonder why China is killing it with their ev designs..

Saic owns 51% of gm. They have been exporting all over the world under several brand names, including gm, and including to the states. (Via the gm Mexican plants). Just a matter of time till they bring the ev's here. The rest of the world already has them.

Comparable to the tesla, to much better. Theres supposedly models getting 400+ miles to one charge. Which is the base line I would consider acceptable, since ice powered econo cars have been capable of that since the 80's. Biggest downfall of ev imo, next to base cost, then obsolescence.

Since 2012, SAIC and GM in China have been equal partners in their venture. It has nothing to do with ownership of GM in the USA.

SAIC-GM was founded on June 12, 1997, with 50% investment each from each partner.
In February 2010, SAIC acquired an additional 1 percent stake in the joint venture for US$85 million and assistance in securing a US$400 million line of credit to boost SAIC's total share of SAIC-GM to 51%. In April 2012, GM regained 50% control of the joint venture

Yes, but that has nothing to do with GM, LLC, the post bankrupt company formerly known as GM, Inc.

The Chinese Communist gov't insists on owning a majority (51%) share of EVERYTHING there. The same goes for the two Volkswagen subsidiaries... but the Chinese gov't doesn't own any of VAG proper.

That's how communism works, the state... er, "State", owns everything.

In the 1980's, Mexico was the same way. If you built a plant in Mexico, the government owned 51% of that plant. I don't know how the profits from that plant were split but have to assume the 51%. Not sure that practice is still in place. Might have gone away with the NAFTA agreement.
